Mission Statement

Our mission at Institute of Massage Fairbanks is to provide a comprehensive education to adult learners and to prepare each person for successful entry into a prosperous and long-lasting career in massage therapy. By providing students with a high standard of ethics, a wealth of knowledge concerning practical applications of massage, and a thorough experience of hands-on practice, we strive to develop our students to bring integrity, expertise and compassion to the massage profession in Alaska.

About the Program Director

Annetta J. Atwell, LMT is the Program Director and primary instructor of the Institute of Massage Fairbanks. As a distinguished honor graduate in her massage therapy training in Texas, Annetta has been licensed and practicing massage therapy since 2006. Although she specializes in clinical and medical forms of massage therapy, she is proficient in spa, sport, chair, relaxation, corporate, and mobile massages, business ownership, and mentoring new therapists. When she is not practicing her profession, she enjoys outdoor activities in Alaska and photography.  Although she was born and raised in northern Ohio, she lived in Texas for 20 years before moving to Alaska in 2012. Her life motto is “Be kind to one another and yourself.”
